Vacation Bible School

Summary

We had about 80 students registered for Vacation Bible School this year. That is similar to previous years. We had 60 different volunteers from grades 7 through adult. These volunteers were phenomenal in teaching our participants about having a relationship with Jesus. 

Our seminarian, Nick Freyberger, taught us each day about a virtue to help us grow in our relationship with Jesus. We made prayer boxes in the craft station to put our written prayers on so we could remember what and who we needed to pray for as well as hold our rosary and holy water that we brought home on the last day. We learned to sing the doxology which is a simple prayer for us to sing whenever possible and works for any situation. We learned about different countries customs of prayer as we ate food that represented the country. In faith, we learned to say the prayer to our Guardian Angel to help guide us through our lives. In games we had fun pretending we were on an airplane and were encouraged to try new ways of doing things. Overall, VBS was fun interactive and full of learning using all of our different senses as prayer is done in many different ways. 

Thank you to all of our helpers from the volunteers that were able to attend, to those that brought food in, and to those that prayed for us to have a great week learning more about our Lord. Some groups that helped us out were Daughters of Isabella, Hispanic Community, Young at Heart, and Outreach Group. We never had a need that wasn’t filled and we couldn’t have VBS without all of the tremendous help we receive from other our parish family. Thank you doesn’t seem like enough but it is all we can offer.
