Trailmen's Required Camping/Hiking List
All Trailmen are required to have the following equipment when camping/hiking:
NOTE: Cellphones are NOT allowed in Woodlands Trail outings. Navigators/Adventurers may have cellphones for pictures ONLY!
- Sleeping bag (cold weather may require warmer bag, or no bag at all in warmer weather)
- Blanket (for warm weather or cold weather outings)
- Sleeping pad (goes under the sleeping bag. For cold weather, this should be an insulated or foam pad)
- Backpack
- Personal toiletry and hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, towel, shower shoes, etc)
- Mess kit (spoon, fork, plate, cup)
- Sports bottle
- Flashlight/headlamp
- Bug spray
- Sunscreen
- Extra clothes (boys tend to get WET for some reason)
- Shoes suitable for hiking (waterproof shoes are better)
- Snacks and games
Navigator/Adventurers require gear in addition to the above list for long-distance hiking expeditions:
- Personal water filtration system (such as a Sawyer Mini or Lifestraw)
- Cook stove
- Stove fuel
- Freeze-dried food/meals
- Water purification tablets
- Compass
- Whistle
